The Future of Sportscar Racing - A Response to Dagys

Real racing needs real cars
This is simply the appeal for me when it comes to Sportscar racing. I enjoy watching cars that may very well have started their lives as production vehicles get transformed into the fire-breathing machines that make up the GT1, GT2, and GT3 categories. The only problem is that many times they are paired with faster "Prototype" vehicles and take a back seat.
Consolidation needs to be done, especially now with the World Endurance Championship looming overhead. Teams that float between multiple series will likely now have to choose just one. This is not right at all and something must be done.
Proposal- Revised FIA GT3 World Championship
The GT3 category is very deep throughout multiple series. It would be wise to capitalize on the potential depth of fields and make an even better single series out of it. The new GT3 World Championship would go to all continents and comprise of 13 races.
The perks:
Home Track Benefits - Teams would be assigned to a group depending on their base of operations. For example, a team based in Britain would be assigned to Europe. At European races, the entry fee is halved for such designated teams. Also, a simplified rule book would allow Rolex Series GT teams to enter provided they meet basic requirements. To be fair, the Rolex Series would also allow FIA GT3 cars to compete while meeting similar requirements.
- Three Regions- Teams that do not fall into a region will be assigned to the closest one (i.e. a Moroccan team would be in the Europe region)
- Americas (North and South America)
Europe
Asia-Oceania
Attendance Stipend - To earn a season bonus from the series, a team must compete in at least eight of the thirteen races, and must run further than 50% of the race distance in those races. Mechanical failures count against the teams but crashes do not (unless deeemed to be intentional/avoidable by race control).
Revised FIA GT3 Championship Schedule
24 Hours of Dubai - January 12-14
24 Hours of Daytona - January 26-29
12 Hours of Sebring - March 15-18
Long Beach Grand Prix - April 12-15
Winton - May 18-20
Lime Rock Memorial Day Classic - May 28
Six Hours of the Glen (Watkins Glen) - June 1-2
Brands Hatch - June 16-17
Navarra Circuit - June 30, July 1
Spa-Francorchamps - July 6-8
Sportsland Sugo - July 27-29
Donington Park - September 22-23
Bathurst 1000 - October 4-7 (Will run on Saturday, into Sunday)
Macau Grand Prix - November 15-18
Proposal: FIA GT World Series
This GT Championship will cover the current GT1 and FIA GTE vehicles and consolidate them into one major series. This series will occasionally run in dual meets with the GT3 Championship, specifically for the endurance races. The normal distance races will be separate except for Macau, which will serve as the season finale for both.
There will be ten races in the season, with no race requirement to earn points. There will also not be any "home track benefit" in the GT World Series.
24 Hours of Dubai - January 12-14
24 Hours of Daytona - January 26-29
12 Hours of Sebring - March 15-18

My first hub was about F1 and it was a good experience reading something similar to that. You have discussed nice points in your write-up.
